Millis Bakery Creates Cake in Honor of Royal Wedding

MILLIS — At Twist & Cafe, Prince Harry and his American bride, Meghan Markle, are turning out to be quite the trendsetters.

For Mother’s Day, the bakery created cakes flavored with elderflower and lemon in imitation of the cake the royal couple will serve after their wedding on Saturday, and it was a big hit among locals.

“The number of cakes we sold was five times more than last year,” said bakery owner Kathryn Ernst.

Keeping the royal theme going, bakery manager Evelene Rodriguez and her team — Lia Frering, Morgan Costa, Zoe Rogers and Stephanie Mauer — on Thursday put the finishing touches on a tiered cake in honor of the royal wedding. The cake will be served at a royal wedding viewing party the Friends of the Millis Library are hosting early Saturday morning.

The bakery, which donated the cake for the library event, is giving out samples during business hours on Saturday, 7 a.m.-5 p.m.
